Adult IOP in Manassas for people with Virginia Medicaid

Coverage questions are a reason to call, not a reason to wait.

If you have Virginia Medicaid (Cardinal Care), the free 15-minute call is a chance to ask about PathWell's adult IOP and how coverage would be checked for your plan. You can ask what the next step would involve.

What helps to have ready

These make coverage questions quicker. If you don't have them handy, you can still ask your questions on the free call.

  • Your Medicaid card

It has your member ID. If it names a health plan, have that handy too.

  • Your questions

About the program, coverage, approval, or anything that makes starting feel uncertain.

  • How you'd get here

Travel to Manassas on group mornings. Your plan may be able to tell you about transportation options.

Cardinal Care, briefly

Virginia Medicaid is called Cardinal Care (Virginia DMAS). If your card names a health plan, that plan matters when coverage is checked.

The five Cardinal Care health plans (statewide list)

Virginia's five Cardinal Care Managed Care plans, effective July 1, 2025. The name in brackets is how Virginia DMAS also lists the plan, which may match your card.

  • Aetna Better Health of Virginia (Aetna Medicaid Virginia)
  • Anthem HealthKeepers Plus (Anthem)
  • Humana Healthy Horizons of Virginia (Humana Healthy Horizons)
  • Sentara Health Plans
  • United Healthcare of the Mid-Atlantic, Inc. (UnitedHealthcare Community Plan)

This is a statewide list. It doesn't show whether PathWell participates with a plan, or whether your own coverage includes IOP. We check both for your specific plan before treatment starts.

How coverage gets checked

Coverage depends on your exact plan, your eligibility, any approval your plan requires, and whether IOP is the right clinical fit.

  1. Check 1

    Your plan

Which Cardinal Care plan you have, and your current eligibility.

  2. Check 2

    Participation and approval

Whether PathWell can work with your plan, and whether the plan requires approval (authorization) before IOP.

  3. Check 3

    What you'd owe

What, if anything, you'd pay. You'll hear this before treatment starts.

If coverage doesn't work out

  • Talk through other optionsIncluding other care your plan may cover.
  • Self-pay$250 for one entire treatment day (9:00 AM–12:30 PM), only if you begin IOP.
  • Need-based assistanceDiscussed with you individually. It isn't guaranteed.

From first call to group mornings

Step 1 of 415 minutesBy phoneFree

A free call with our therapist

Choose a time that suits you. Our therapist will listen to what's been going on, explain how the program works and answer your questions.

You don't need to know what kind of care you need. Use the call to ask questions and hear what the next step could involve.

Good things to ask about

  • How coverage is checked for my plan
  • Whether my plan requires approval
  • What I might owe, if anything
  • Getting to Manassas
Step 2 of 445–60 minutesWith a clinicianFree to you

A clinical assessment

Your clinical assessment is free to you. We’ll talk through your needs and help you decide on the next step.

We'll talk about your symptoms, care you've tried, the support around you and your safety.

What it's for

  • Understanding what's been hard and what has helped before
  • Checking whether IOP is the right level of care
  • Explaining the recommendation in plain terms
Step 3 of 4A shared decision

Decide together

You'll go over the clinician's recommendation and ask anything you need to. This is also where your plan, your eligibility and any approval your plan requires are checked. There are two ways this can go.

If IOP fits

Confirm how you'll pay (your exact insurance or Medicaid plan, or self-pay), any approval your plan requires, your attendance plan and a start date.

Then: group mornings begin

If something else fits better

The clinician will explain why and talk through next steps. That might be routine outpatient care or more intensive support.

Step 4 of 4Mon, Tue, Thu9:00 AM–12:30 PMIn person

Group mornings begin

  • Travel to Manassas on each group morning
  • The full morning, 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM
  • Afternoons and evenings outside the program

What it costs, step by step

The introductory call and clinical assessment are free to you. Coverage and any treatment costs are reviewed before you begin.

Payment options

Read both options, or choose a view. You don't need to decide how to pay to ask about care.

With Virginia Medicaid

Your exact plan, eligibility, clinical fit and any prior approval need to be checked. A plan's name alone does not confirm PathWell participation or coverage.

Questions to ask

  • Does PathWell participate in my exact plan?
  • Does my IOP care need prior approval?
  • What might I owe, if anything?

If you pay yourself

$250 covers the entire scheduled treatment day, 9:00 AM–12:30 PM: three treatment hours and 30 minutes of breaks. Three treatment days cost $750. It's a daily fee, not a per-group or per-hour charge.

Questions to ask

  • How many treatment days are recommended for me?
  • Could a need-based scholarship help? It's considered case by case and isn't guaranteed.
